Tudor Living History Day

OK, folks, I have figured out my blogging problem. I'm lazy.  The only time I can get uninterrupted time to do anything is after the kids are asleep, and by that time, I don't feel like doing anything.  I can muster up the energy to lift the remote and cover myself with a blanket on the couch, and that's about it. : D

ANYWAY.......everyone was feeling good enough to finally get out and see some sights!  A few weekends ago, we drove up to Peterborough for a Tudor Living History Day at Peterborough Cathedral.  I was so excited to go!  Why, you ask?  There were going to be people in period costumes, dancing and playing music.  I was actually going to set foot in an honest-to-goodness cathedral, and the history buff in me was doing a happy dance!

Let's take a look, shall we.....

No modern-day cranes; no heavy machinery.  Like the Great Pyramids of Egypt, it makes the finished product all the more amazing.

I mean, just look!

Now, most of you know my views on religion.  I will say this about religion, and in particular the Catholic Church, some of the world's most beautiful and amazing art and architecture has been created because of it.

I was just amazed at the detail of the wood carving.

I got a video of the musicians.  If I can ever figure out how to post it, I will.

They have the living history day every year to commemorate the day that Katharine of Aragon was buried here.  The Peterborough Cathedral had the special designation of having had 2 Queens of England buried there.  Mary Queen of Scots was originally buried there, but was moved to Westminster by her son, King James I.

The royal procession.

Miss Priss watching me write with a "feather pen."

We didn't get to stay as long as I would have liked.  I wanted to wander around reading every poster, and play with every interactive screen.  Trying to soak in all this history with 2 small children in tow is going to be a challenge, but, hey, we'll be here for a while.

I'll be back.

Oh, BTW, I have had to cancel my Harry Potter Tour.  Hubby's work schedule is insane right now, and it just wasn't going to work.  : (

Another time!

And, yes, I know that I have promised pics of Miss Priss in her school uniform and pics of our house.  I haven't forgotten!  I'm just lazy.

    1. Thanks! With all of the castles there are to see here, I'm sure I will have plenty more. BTW, I took all these with the camera you gave me. Thank you!
