Hello again! Things have been realtively uneventful, until today. More on that later. The Hubs has a horrible work schedule, but it is better than what it was a week ago. Little Man has had constant nasal congestion and some sleep apnea. Poor little guy isn't getting a lot of sleep, and that means that I'm not getting a lot of sleep. He has an appointment with an ENT in about a week. Miss Priss had the whole week off from school last week for their half-term break. I LOVE the British school system! She is reading, writing and even writing simple math problems. I did start teaching her to read last summer (with the help of this great book) , and she's just getting better and better. Her writing is coming along great. These are things that her Pre-K teacher in Texas told us she wouldn't be doing until she would be half way through Kindergarden! Another added bonus: she will basically be going to school year-round! They get a few one or two week breaks throughout the year, and they get 5-6 weeks off for their summer break.
Now for the events of today. We went out to eat a late dinner, so when we got home, it was time to get the kids bathed and in bed. As Miss Priss and I are standing in the bathroom, a mouse runs into the room and almost over our feet!!!
A mouse, people. A gross, furry, disesase-laden, creepy, crawley mouse. IN MY HOUSE!!!!
Everybody, say it with me, "EEEEWWWWWW!!!"
The scream that came out of me was so loud and so hysterical, that as soon as I snatched up Miss Priss, ran out to the hall and slammed the bathroom door I burst out laughing at how rediculous I was. I was literally crying from laughing at myself. My big brave hubby headed into the bathroom with thick gloves and combat boots to catch the little vermin. It was gone. Gone. It had found some place to squeeze through and escape. Fantastic.
Did I mention that this particular bathroom shares a hallway with all of the bedrooms? As in right outside of Miss Priss's bedroom? Not surprisingly, she did not want to sleep in her room. I agreed with her, and I took it one step farther.
We checked into a hotel for the night.
And an exterminator is coming in the morning.
