I know!
I'm sorry!
At least I'm only a month and a half behind this time. You still love me, right?
Here we go!
Right around the time of my last post, Miss Priss had her last day of school. Thus began the longest, most frustrating 6 weeks I've ever had. Seriously. Remember the "chaos" part of my blog title? Yeah, this was definitely it. Two children at home all day long, no one naps, there is no quiet, they rarely play together (or can even be in the same room together) peacefully, and I am the source of all entertainment and diversions. Great! Oh, and Hubby was working 12 hour shifts for a few weeks. Even better. I thought I'd plan a fun outing for us each week to get us out of the house and keep us (ME) from going crazy.
We are English Heritage members. We pay a yearly membership fee, and we can go to all of their properties all over England for free. During the summer holiday a lot of the castles had special events for kids, so I thumbed through the events calendar and picked a few. First stop: Framlingham Castle for Knight and Princess School.
After an extremely frustrating drive there (I discovered I don't do well driving that far on these roads while trying to pay attention to the GPS while being the lead car in the group of people going), we arrived!
They had a tent with pieces of armor. We got to try some on.
That's me in the tin can. We're ready for battle!
Little Man running through the courtyard.
Miss Priss trying to rebuild part of the castle wall.
Sword fighting lessons! I don't know how he ended up with two swords.
Dressing up like a Princess.
A view from the top of the castle wall.
And across the courtyard.
One of the Tudor chimneys.
After we were done in the castle, we walked through the town and stopped at an inn and pub for something to eat before heading home. They had the best pizza that I've had since moving to England. We found a used bookstore and an Aveda salon. I showed incredible restraint. I didn't even go into the salon. I would have spend way too much money.
We headed home after our long eventful day. I didn't have to be the lead car this time!!
Gift shop spoils.
Next stop: Sherwood Forest!
