Seeing the sights

Well, we had one busy/amazing/fantastic day this Sunday.  We got up, had a big breakfast, and got on the tour bus.

First stop, Windsor! FYI, all of these pictures were taken with our phones.  I couldn't find the cord that went to the camera charger.  Of course, I found it this morning, in the basket on the dryer where we keep our rag/cleaning towels.

Windsor Castle

The flag that was flying indicated that the Queen was home.  The castle was closed to visitors.  I found out later that night, that it was the Queen's 87th birthday.  The National Review of the Queen's Scouts was going on while we were there.

The band was leaving.

We found a great Greek restaurant!  Little Man loved his chicken on a steeeek.  See the red door behind us?  That is the Windsor Guildhall.  That is where Charles and Camilla were married.  And Elton John and David Furness, too.

Sleepyheads.

Back on the bus, and headed to Stop #2.

I was attempting to get a picture of Ascot Racecourse.  Attempted, and failed.  And I had this song from My Fair Lady stuck in my head for at least 20 minutes.

Not only did we go to Stonehenge, we had inner circle access to Stonehenge.  Normally, people are only allowed onto a roped-off walkway around the stones, but private tour groups (26 people max) are allowed to walk into the inner circle and walk among the ancient stones.  It was amazing!  Our tour group was the last of the day, just as the sun was setting.

Enjoy.

To be standing beside those enormous stones that have been standing there for thousands of years was
simply amazing

Little Miss was so excited!  Brave is one of her current favorites, and she just couldn't wait to be in a stone circle like Merida.

I kept Little Man in the sling with me.  I didn't want to have to run after him or worry about him trying to climb up on the stones.

The clouds would part just enough to let the sun through for a few minutes.  Then it would get dark and cloudy again. Ah, England.

This one I took with an actual camera.  It had just enough battery life left.  This was the last photo I took before we left.

Military life can be rough, but days like this make it all worth it.
